Event Details

An annual leadership and mentoring experience designed for students and young professionals. The program provides a rich learning experience and an opportunity to meet some of Houston’s most promising startups and founders.

Admission includes breakfast, lunch, and and afternoon of boating, jet skiing, and swimming on Lake Conroe. Attendees also gain Emerging Leader membership at OPEN Houston for one year.

He has Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Optical Engineering and an MBA from Rice University.

    Carey Kirkpatrick is a veteran marketing and public relations specialist. She was the founding Director of Marketing for CultureMap.com and in 2014 founded CKP, an integrated communications firm. Carey was recently named on Houston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 honorees for her outstanding role as a business leader and community advocate. She graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a Bachelor of Music and certificate in arts administration. She also earned a Master of Music from UT Austin

She previously spent over 11 years with Exxon Mobil and BHP Billiton.

    Thomas Fields


    Thomas is the Founder & CEO of GRIND, a sports hardware startup focused on optimizing training for basketball athletes. Thomas was a member of the Redlabs startup accelerator which showcased GRIND as one of the most innovative & disruptive companies in the athletic community. He is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Houston, and an annual member of the MIT media lab.

    Vi Nguyen is a co-founder and CEO of Homads, an Austin based startup that has developed an online marketplace for subletting. Previous to Homads, she co-founded a media production company specializing in promoting Asian-Americans in the media. Vi earned a bachelors degree at the University of Texas, Austin.
